The article describes the options for optimal location of hydromeliorative and water-supply facilities as the key tools of effective use of irrigated lands. Their parameters, irrigation rates including, their capacity and water availability have been analyzed. It is shown that when solving the problems of on-farm irrigation and collector-drainage network, it is necessary to use the existing construction norms and regulations, specifications and design standards of the irrigation network as well as other recommendations and normative documents. Special attention is drawn to the fact that the location of the irrigation system should be designed taking into account the terrain and the requirements of rational organization of the irrigated area and that it should be in conformity with the irrigation methods and techniques accepted in the region.
