Water rotation was and is used widely in water distribution practices in CAR both under normal water conditions (at the lower water distribution level - between irrigation plots) and in case of water shortage (at the inter-farm irrigation network and upper levels). Because of institutional changes and the lack of qualified watermen (mirabs), currently we have problems related to planning and handling of water rotation at all water distribution levels. Assessment of the effect from water rotation is also problematic. The author made an attempt in this article to draw attention of researchers and practitioners to those problems and contribute to their solution.
