The paper considers the problem in prolongation of the life span of networking hydraulic structures that have been operated for more than 40–50 years. Some causes of unsatisfactory performance of networking hydraulic structures are described. Actual data on the use of reclaimed land in Russia are provided. Proposals are given on innovative use of the remaining lifetime and development of new designs of networking hydraulic structures.
