 In Kazakhstan, one of the major problems is the low efficiency of water use, particularly in the irrigation sector. Low irrigation efficiency entail substantial direct costs. As a result, reduce crop yields, annual losses of 27 billion tenge (200 million U.S. dollars). In this regard by 2010 the government planned to increase the efficiency of water use by 20%.
