With the thirty-fifth ratification by Vietnam, the 1997 UN Watercourses Convention came into force on 17 August 2014. This Collection includes the translated Russian versions of essays from some of the most knowledgeable scholars and practitioners where they shared their opinions on entry into force and perspectives of the Convention in different regions in the world. They also discussed the implications that the Convention may have on international water law and the global management of transboundary watercourses.
First, the essays were posted on the International Water Law Project Blog (www.internationalwaterlaw.org/blog/ and then in the Water Policy Journal in two parts:
- Eckstein, G. et al. (2014) Specially Invited Opinions and Research Report of the International Water Law Project: Global Perspectives on the Entry into Force of the UN Watercourses Convention 2014: Part One. Water Policy 16(6), doi: 10.2166/wp.2014.008
