Unfavourable conditions determining the ecological state of water resources in Ulyanovsk region have been studied. It is ascertained that the Chernobyl APS hazard predetermined the need to control the radio-active water resources contamination. It is pointed out that the problem of impact of the radio-active centres pollution on the population health in Ulyanovsk region requires further ecological research.
