A situation with water in the world, a condition and tendencies of fresh-water resources of Russia are considered. The characteristic of water objects as sources of extreme situations is given, measures under the prevention of extreme situations on water objects of Russia are formulated. Article materials can be used at the organization of work of the centres of monitoring and forecast of extreme situations of territorial subsystems of the Russian System of Preventions and Actions in extreme situations, planning and development of measures of the Ministry of Extreme Situations of Russia on decrease in negative influence on water objects from managing structures, and also in educational process of educational institutions of the Ministry.
