Autonomous non-profit organization - National Information Agency "Natural Resources" (NIA-Priroda) was established pursuant to the order ¹ 170 of 23.10.97 of the Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation (certificate ¹ 69053 of 01.12.97 of the Moscow Registration Chamber, publishing license ¹ 071947 of 26.07.99 ).

Main tasks: 

• explanation of policies and coverage of the MNR of Russia and the departments of natural-resource system in mass media;
• information and analytical support to the MNR of Russia to ensure coordination of natural-resource system;
• rapid dissemination of organizational and administrative information and regulatory guidance documents of MNR and other departments of the environmental sector;
• formation and development of inter-agency information exchange system in the natural resource complex;
• preparation, issue and dissemination of publications for the system of ministries and departments of the natural resources sector;
• interaction with the media and press services of state bodies;
• dissemination of relevant and reliable information on the status of natural resources and environment through their own media;
• ensuring public participation in the preparation and making of management decisions;
• information and publishing support of federal and regional executive authorities;
• development and introduction of modern methods and means of accumulation, collection, analysis, processing and dissemination of information on natural resource and socio-environmental issues;
• comprehensive and detailed analysis of natural-resource system;
• preparation of analytical materials, reports and background information;
• participation in the preparation of conceptual and policy instruments for environmental management;
• analyze, synthesize and disseminate the experience of the work carried out in regions of the Federation;
• outreach activities among Russiaò and foreign public;
• information and legal support of the population;
• monitoring of public opinion and media publications;
• organization of information interchange among natural resource agencies of the CIS countries and support of international cooperation in the field of environmental management.
